Like everyone else, people with developmental disabilities have the capacity to make significant contributions to the community and the world by utilizing their God-given talents. John Paul II Center for Special Learning was founded to provide each student the opportunity to develop this potential. John Paul II Center is the only Catholic School in the greater Berks County area serving students with this kind of special need.
At John Paul II Center, we are dedicated to bringing out the best in children with developmental disabilities. That "best" may be bright eyes and a big smile, buttoning a shirt or zipping a coat. It might be using a computer to communicate, learning to multiply, or gaining the social and job skills needed to work.
The teachers and staff of John Paul II Center help the students grow through a child-centered curriculum based on a philosophy that each young person is a unique individual. Teachers strive to nurture spiritual development by emphasizing the Christian values of sharing, cooperation, and respect of others through instruction and example. We serve children of all races and religious beliefs from ages three to 21 years. Contributions from individuals and businesses maintain our Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition assistance to financially needy students.
